Background...

We are an old Italian family whose ancestry dates back to the fourteenth century. We originated from Florence and are now living in a country village called Marti, in the Arno Valley, in the province of Pisa. We own the land, and make our living cultivating it, and restoring the buildings once used for agricultural purposes into hospitality villas.

Our villa in Marti, (Villa Majnoni) where we live, was built during the fifteenth century and completely restored in the eighteenth when it was enlarged and a small chapel created in it. Many members of the Baldovinetti family (of which the present owners are direct heirs) had appointments of high responsibility during several phases of Florence history. Important political tasks were entrusted to the Baldovinettis during the Florentine Republic, the Medicis period, and lastly when the Lorenas became Grandukes of Tuscany.

We have reconstructured our first old farmhouse (Belvedere) in the year 2000 adding modern comforts and furnishing it with antiques. It has a private garden and spectacular views over the surrounding countryside. A swimming pool has been blended into the environment; the house is set in its own olive groove where some of the extra virgin olive oil we produce comes from. It sleeps 6 people in 2 double rooms and a twin.

The second farmhouse reconstruction was finished in the year 2005, giving birth to (La Granchiaia) which sleeps 10 persons in 3 double bedrooms and a twin, there is a bunk bedroom. Again we followed strict rules in trying to maintain the original charm of these buildings, so vaulted terracotta roofs, high ceilings and spacious rooms. Also here an infinity pool was constructed with great difficulty on one of the terraces where once were the farmers orchards.

The third farmhouse ( Monterosoli ) reconstruction has just been completed and will be ready for hire for the 2008 season. Again this was a total renovation, from roof to plumbing, heating, electrical wiring, plastering, etc. The house is composed of an entrance, a very large drawing room with a winter end with fireplace and a summer end with French windows to admire the beautiful view, also a library/TV area, dining room, kitchen and utility all on the ground floor, a lovely stone staircase takes you upstairs to the 3 double bedrooms with ensuite marble bathrooms and a twin room with ensuite marble shower room, thus making total sleeping capacity 8 people.

Other services which we can offer include organising wine tours, cultural visits with guides to historical locations, visiting truffle experts to buy your freshly picked truffle.
